ABOUT THE PROJECT

The website ‘Cultural and Historical Heritage of Nayden Gerov’ aims to create a digital library related to the works and socio-educational activities of Nayden Gerov. The platform has been created under the project ‘Reception and digitalization of the unexplored manuscript heritage of Nayden Gerov’ with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science (Bulgaria) under the National Program ‘Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows’.

The digitalization of some of the manuscripts of N. Gerov, which are stored in the Bulgarian Historical Archive at the National Library ‘SS Cyril and Methodius’ (Fund 22, Inventory I and Inventory II) and are numbering over 2,000 archival units or about 15,000 documents, allows some unknown textbooks and other valuable materials to be made public. It is envisaged to gradually upload archival documents, their systematization, the introduction of metadata and the completion of annotations through innovative digitization techniques. The Internet platform can be integrated both as an additional auxiliary material in the literature curriculum and as a source to contemporary Bulgarian and foreign literary critics and historians.
